Spotlight: Millie, 6

Six-year-old Millie loves horses! At her weekly riding lesson, her infectious smile never leaves her face. Horses bring her joy, and joy is especially important when you’re a five-year-old who loses the father you adored.

Millie’s mom shares, “We always wanted our girls to be active and play sports. DWYERFIRE enables this through financial support and encouragement. They provide that extra push to keep the girls engaged and active!”

Millie is the oldest daughter of CW2 Shane Barnes who died with Steve Dwyer and three other crew members on November 10, 2023. Supporting Millie is important to us at DWYERFIRE; we know how much Steve respected and admired Shane. The least we can do for Steve and Shane is support their children.

Millie’s mother adds, “Sports and extracurricular activities play such a vital role in a child’s self-confidence. It means so much to have DWYERFIRE — understanding what these children have been through and the losses they’ve experienced — seek to boost that self-confidence through sports.”

And it means so much to us at DWYERFIRE to have Millie on our team, smiling.
